Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, the leader in Enterprise Immune System technology, has today announced that it has won three awards at Computing’s Security Excellence Awards 2016, at a ceremony in London last night.

The Security Excellence Awards celebrate the achievements of the IT industry’s best security companies, solutions and personalities. Darktrace picked up the ‘Enterprise Threat Detection Award’ and the ‘Cloud Security Award’, in recognition of its unique ability to autonomously learn ‘normal’ behaviors and detect emerging cyber-threats, across on-premise and cloud environments.

The Enterprise Immune System leverages unsupervised machine learning and probabilistic mathematics developed by specialists from the University of Cambridge. It works by constantly modeling the ‘pattern of life’ of each user, device and network, and is the only machine learning technology that is proven to detect threats that legacy security products miss, including IoT hacks, insider threats and polymorphic malware.

Darktrace’s CEO Nicole Eagan was also named ‘Security Woman of the Year’ in recognition of the rapid growth of the company, which is currently experiencing 600% year-on-year growth, and has delivered 1,500 deployments of the Enterprise Immune System, in the space of just three years.

“Machine learning is driving fundamental change for cyber defense – but this is not easy to do. It’s a very difficult challenge,” said Nicole Eagan, CEO, Darktrace. “Darktrace has demonstrated that its self-learning technology works at scale, across all infrastructures and network types, catching threats that would otherwise go unnoticed. We are pleased that this unique capability has once again been recognized by Computing’s judges.”
