Statement regarding LockBit claims

Earlier this morning we became aware of tweets from LockBit, the cyber-criminal gang, claiming that they had compromised Darktrace’s internal security systems and had accessed our data. Our security teams have run a full review of our internal systems and can see no evidence of compromise. None of the LockBit social media posts link to any compromised Darktrace data. We will continue to monitor the situation extremely closely, but based on our current investigations we are confident that our systems remain secure and all customer data is fully protected.

Darktrace, a global leader in cyber security artificial intelligence, today announced that its OT defense technology has been awarded ‘Best Cyber Critical Infrastructure Solution’ in the 2022 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Security Awards program.

Now in its seventh year, American Security Today’s annual ‘ASTORS’ Awards is the preeminent U.S. Homeland Security Awards Program, and recognizes industry leaders in cyber security. This year’s awards mark the 20th anniversary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which came out in force to discuss comprehensive collaborations between private and public sectors that have led to developing intelligence and technologies which serve to protect U.S. organizations.

Darktrace DETECT/OT™ technology, which protects complex industrial environments against the full range of cyber-attacks, received a ‘Platinum’ award in the ‘Best Cyber Critical Infrastructure Solution’ category. The technology was recognized for its unique ability to deliver bespoke cyber defense for organizations operating critical infrastructure across all 16 sectors designated by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).

Darktrace/OT uses Self-Learning AI to understand ‘normal’ behavior for bespoke OT and IT/OT ecosystems, identifying threats at the earliest stages. It uses this understanding to defend against known and unknown attacks at every level of the Purdue model, providing complete visibility across OT environments and protection from specialized OT and hybrid IT/OT threats.

Darktrace’s RESPOND technology also won ‘Gold’ in the ‘Best Cyber Security Solution’ category of the program. When a threat is detected, RESPOND makes a series of real time micro-decisions that interrupt the attacker, while allowing normal operations to continue. These actions can be autonomous or confirmed by a human where safety is of the utmost importance.

“Protecting critical infrastructure against cyber compromise is one of the most significant issues facing the nation, as is onboarding the right defense technologies across government in order to maintain a national cyber security advantage,” commented Marcus Fowler, CEO, Darktrace Federal. “Against this backdrop, it is an honor to be recognized for providing best-in-class AI defense technology to organizations across all 16 critical infrastructure sectors designated by CISA.”
